Hi!

I am in my early thirties and I can hardly imagine living somewhere other than Berlin.
Whereas others may love to order a specific desert I always go for the desert sampler plate. Accordingly, four years ago when I married the love of my life, at the stunning party I didn`t have a wedding cake, but 500 Petits Fours.
I live for fashion, cosmetics, pilates, my friends & good food.
I want to use this Blog to introduce several big and small ideas that I love. They should inspire you to develop your ideas and wishes.

Laid-back Wedding Part 1: McDonalds Wedding in Hongkong

Because today is the first day of carnival, I start my suggestions for laid-back weddings a bit bizarre.

McDonalds offers a variation of different packages for a special but price-conscious wedding party. If you like you can even get married in a white balloon dress and put McDonalds balloon rings on each others finger.

The prices range between 1,00 EUR for a dessert plate and 7,60 EUR for a three-storied cake stand.

By the way the name (Lieschen und Ruth) originate from the founder`s grandmas.

Here you see combined two of my most favorite things in the world: Icecream & Champagne
OK. The bib is kind of ridiculous! Apart from that the idea itself is quite charming: To bring favorite dishes, drinks, memories from childhood to the wedding. This might take off the severity of the celebration.

There are many alternatives for beautiful winter weddings.

Fairylike Winter Wonderland: in shades of blue-grey-purple-white (With snowflakes, cotton wool branches, holiday lights, crystals, lace)
Chilly Northern Europe: in shades of blue-grey-brown (With plaids, open fireplaces, cinnamon bark, fake fur, decoration with wood, hot chocolate)
Traditional christmas wedding: in shades of red-green-gold (With fir sprigs, a lot of candles & christmas tree decoration, Cranberries & Amaryllis, chaplets, brandy punch and a christmas cookies buffet)

If give-aways, then...

The small guest gifts are one of the most tricky issues. Though I want to underline that give-away are not a must! If you decide for them please keep in mind that it should be something special.

They should tell something about you. About one of your shared hobby or peculiarities. If this is to difficult they should at least fit to your wedding-theme & colors.
Little things one will need during / right after the party are an other good possibility (paper fans, fabric handkerchiefs, boutonnieres, varying hangover-kits etc.)
Something that refers to your planned honeymoon, so the guests can feel the spirit of your holiday destination.
Invitations for dinner, coffee, picnic, BBQ etc. during the following months. This is a nice way to reminisce together about the wedding day.

There are thousands of ideas. You can personalize the gifts with your photo. For me personally more discreet and therefore somehow nicer are to use just your initials and/or the date. Really annoying it gets when it comes to the budget of give-aways. Most couples try to realize their ideas with 3,00 € / person maximum. If you also use the give-aways as place cards, you can maybe spend one or two Euros more. ;-)

But not only this fine lady weakened when it came to cakes. I regularly have to drag me away from all the cake and dessert possibilities while screening different Event-Blogs. That`s the only way getting me to notice trends besides this delicious topic!

Isn`t this a magical Fairy-mushroom cake? I like things on cakes you thematically wouldn`t expect there, like mushrooms. You can vary this idea easily, too.

We all heared off Cake-Pops. But these Cake-Shooters are new & hot. There is a German icecream called Ed-von-Schleck-Eis with exactly the same technique – reminds me of my childhood! Nevertheless a convenient way of serving cake at a stand-up reception because it works without any additional dishes. The only environmental sour note for me is the plastic wrapping. My husband is a huge Simpsons-Fan. Therefore he would appreciate such a gorgeous Doughnut Cake.
